Build summary
Bushy combines Rifle with Trap Seed and gains bonus critical chance against rooted enemies. Preserve movement when another approach lies outside the planted area.
- Timing
- The stationary seed trigger is faster in 1.0, but standing still still exposes the character.
Rooted targets and a new approach
Bushy has Rifle and Trap Seed active. A planted area covers one approach.
Root a targetTrap Seed restricts movement. Bushy gains bonus critical chance against rooted enemies.
- Support the direct attack
A compatible on-hit source must still reach its intended weapon.
Leave the uncovered laneEnemies outside the planted area still require movement and direct damage.
The 1.0 stationary seed wait is shorter, but the setup does not justify standing inside an unrooted crowd.
Establish the root before relying on the bonus
Trap Seed restricts enemy movement. Bushy gains bonus critical chance against rooted enemies. Rifle provides a direct attack into those targets. The root’s coverage is the enabling condition: an approaching enemy outside the planted area does not become controlled merely because a seed exists elsewhere.
Use dash and short safe stationary windows to develop the seed setup. Version 1.0 reduces the stationary wait, but it does not make standing inside a crowd safe. Move when a new lane threatens the character rather than waiting for one more seed.
Develop Rifle alongside the character item
Rifle needs support for the enemies it can reach. Keep its line of fire useful while adding damage, attack cadence or compatible on-hit effects. A strong bonus against one rooted target does not automatically clear the broad wave approaching from another direction.
If the opening lacks a reliable root lane, strengthen the direct weapon before adding several speculative critical supports. Critical tiers explain why chance above 100% can still help, but that calculation only matters on attacks that actually reach the enemy.
Bosses and movement
Do not assume every boss is controlled by the same trap effect. Read the encounter’s actual movement and telegraphs, preserve a dash, and keep a direct attack during repositioning. The boss guide gives the timing problems that an immobile setup still has to solve.
A late weapon replacement should preserve useful support instead of abandoning it for a theoretically higher damage line. A larger gun with long reloads can introduce a new failure even while rooting ordinary zombies feels strong.
Unlock and alternatives
Sharp-Shooter requires 1,000 Rifle kills to unlock Bushy. The original official 0.19 announcement supplies the character and root interaction; the 1.0 notes call the character “The Bush.” The character profile keeps the naming and unlock together.
For another critical route, compare Astronaut’s armor build. It develops critical support through a different character mechanic and does not require copying Trap Seed’s positional plan.
