Quick reference
Yontoryu needs four Katanas equipped and active simultaneously. Four owned copies are insufficient if a copy is in storage, broken or unable to use the available hands.
- Required
- Four separate Katanas active at the same time.
- Keep copies
- Merging two Katanas reduces the number of separate weapons.
Four copies and enough hands
The objective counts four separate active Katanas at the same time.
Preserve four copiesMerging two reduces the physical-weapon count.
Provide capacity
Four unmodified two-hand weapons require eight usable hands.
Inspect the active stateAll four must be repaired, equipped and active together.
Storage copies and unusable weapons do not finish Yontoryu. Fitting the shapes and supplying the hands are separate checks.
Collect copies before upgrading them
Keep Katana copies for the simultaneous count. A higher-rarity Katana is still one Katana, so merging the third and fourth copies can move the objective further away. Inspect shops and airdrops for the missing copies while maintaining the weapon carrying the run.
Copy Shop can help when a suitable copy is already available and the required unlock is purchased. Reserve its displayed scrap cost before spending on unrelated rerolls. The Japanese notebook uses this approach for a different three-copy objective, Juggler; it is a collection tool, not a guaranteed Katana offer.
Solve hands and backpack space separately
Katana’s conventional requirement is two hands. Four unmodified copies therefore ask for eight hands altogether. Item-specific reductions, if used, must be verified on every receiver; do not assume one reduction reaches all four.
Plasma Hand is a crafted way to supply additional equipping hands in 1.0. That solves capacity, but the four physical weapons and the hand item still have to fit in the backpack. Check the workbench’s actual ingredients and rarity requirements before consuming the current attack.
Keep a playable setup during collection
One or two Katanas can be useful attacks while you collect the others, but a bag of reserved copies still needs movement and support. Do not sell every damage modifier to fund the final duplicate if that leaves the next map unsurvivable. Longer runs provide more opportunities only while you can keep clearing and extracting.
The Katana reference covers the 1.0 damage buff and melee limitations. The historical melee snowball explains why a lucky pile of rare weapons in a screenshot is not a predictable acquisition route.
