Build summary
Flamethrower leaves damaging fire that can apply Burn. Fight along enemy approaches while keeping a path out.
- Core equipment
- Flamethrower; Body Armor optional
- Placement
- Equip the weapon first; only add support that reaches an eligible recipient.
- Requirements
- Crafting must leave a usable weapon and enough room to move.
- Fallback
- Use Pistol until the craft can be equipped.
Strengths
- Ground fire continues contributing while you reposition.
- Does not require a character-specific Burn item.
Weaknesses
- Enemies that leave the fire reduce its coverage value.
- Body Armor protects independently and slows movement.
When to pick it
You can make enemies cross the fire without trapping yourself.
When to skip it
The craft would consume your only useful weapon or prevent safe movement.
Priorities
- Keep Pistol through the crafting transition.
- Cover enemy approaches with fire while retaining an escape lane.
- Choose movement or defense when positioning is the problem.
Useful equipment and guides
Flamethrower shoots a stream and leaves damaging fire on the ground. That fire can apply Burn. Move with enough room for approaching enemies to cross the covered area while you reposition.
Survivor can use this weapon plan without a character-specific burn item. Body Armor is an optional independent defense; it does not increase Burn. Pistol is the pre-craft weapon or a fallback if spare hands allow it.
Crafting Flamethrower
Keep the supported gun you have until Flamethrower can take over. Read the workbench recipe before consuming its ingredients, especially if one is your only useful weapon. Carrying an unfinished craft is costly when it forces out the support already keeping enemies away.
After equipping Flamethrower, judge where the fire is contributing. Preserve a way out instead of repeatedly crossing a crowded area for loot. If the switch leaves less safe ground than before, improve its compatible support or retain the earlier weapon.
Burn support and positioning
A modifier may affect the stream, the ground fire or a status application differently. Confirm the recipient it accepts before assigning the slot. Another poison or electric item does not gain a burn interaction simply from sharing an elemental theme.
Keep survival equipment when it creates the room needed to fight. At a boss, watch whether the target actually stays in the fire before committing more of the loadout to it.
A supported handgun or Minigun can preserve a ranged run if the craft is unavailable. It will not reproduce persistent ground fire.
