Challenge route

DPS achievements and five-second boss kills

Quick reference

Wood Chipper measures round-average DPS above 100,000; Express Service measures a boss kill within five seconds. A large single hit does not establish either result.

DPS goals
Round averages must exceed 10,000 or 100,000 DPS.
Burst goal
Express Service requires a boss defeated within five seconds.

Use the round result for the average-DPS objectives. Damage numbers above enemies show individual events, while a weapon tooltip describes a different measurement again. Keep the result and the achievement notification as the completion evidence.

Build sustained coverage for a round average

Reload gaps, movement away from targets and inactive selectors interrupt output. First inspect the weapon that actually reaches enemies. Improve its on-hit support and firing cycle before adding an unrelated attack solely because an old video shows a large number.

The reload comparison explains why attack speed and reload time produce different gaps. The Crossbow build develops repeated on-hit effects, but needs lodged bolts and a valid trigger path. Neither route guarantees a target average on its own.

An extended run gives more opportunities to accumulate useful gear, while also increasing the survival demand. Keep a working bus route and enough defense to reach the result screen. An extraordinary late-Endless inventory is not a recipe guaranteed to appear before the first boss.

Prepare burst before the boss

For Express Service, have the attack and its support active before entering the fight. Short range can waste the opening even when theoretical damage is high. A reload at the wrong moment can also consume much of the five-second window.

Boss protection mechanics still apply. The HQ sequence includes objectives that damage alone cannot bypass. Dumpling’s old premature-death behavior was fixed in 1.0; do not count on a historical shortcut shown before that fix. Use the boss guide and HQ guide to identify the actual fight requirements.

Attack range during a phase transition

In the current Express Service discussion, Thalien first reports losing the window between boss phases, then reports success after staying close enough to resume damage immediately when the next phase began. Use a safe position within the actual weapon’s reach before the vulnerable window returns; standing too far away can waste damage time even when the bag is strong enough.

This does not remove the boss’s attacks or protected objectives. Do not copy a universal instruction to stand in contact with every boss, or use a fixed transition duration for a different fight.
