Strengths

  • Gives movement and on-hit support distinct roles.
  • Battery can help the pre-craft weapon.

Weaknesses

  • Lightning remains chance-based.
  • Bolts must land before repeating their attached effects.

When to pick it

You can assemble both support connections without losing damage.

When to skip it

You only have the weapon and cannot fit either defining support.

Priorities

  1. Keep a functioning weapon while gathering the craft.
  2. Mark Crossbow with both support items.
  3. Move through safe ground to supply Shoes activations.

Useful equipment and guides

Crossbow lands bolts that remain in enemies. Battery adds chance-based lightning to hits from its marked weapon. Walking Shoes triggers marked eligible items after movement, letting the lodged bolts repeat on-hit effects.

Battery must mark Crossbow, and Walking Shoes must also mark Crossbow. These are separate connections. Putting Shoes next to Battery will not make Battery the intended receiver.

Crossbow setup

Keep Pistol or another working weapon while collecting parts and checking the Crossbow recipe. Battery can support a compatible gun before the craft is ready; Shoes still provides movement support.

Craft Crossbow when it can replace the damage you would consume. Connect both supports, then move through safe ground while firing. The bolts must hit an enemy before their repeated effects can help, and Shoes needs movement to supply its trigger.

If one support is missing, continue with the weapon and effects you have. Keep a reliable fallback until the new arrangement clears enemies comfortably.

Lightning chance and trigger limits

Battery’s lightning is chance-based. Repeating an on-hit effect does not guarantee lightning on every activation, or establish a universal damage multiplier. The setup also depends on movement and the Shoes’ activation condition; it does not run as an infinite loop. Cogwheel is not required.

At a boss, leave room to land hits and retreat. If direct damage is poor, improve the weapon’s useful support or retain another active weapon instead of adding a speculative trigger chain.

If Crossbow never becomes affordable, leave Battery on the compatible gun already working. That preserves a ranged run, though it loses the lodged-bolt interaction. Add defense and direct weapon support after the two required selector connections fit.
