Cogwheel trigger chains

Cogwheel item artwork from the official release announcement

How the combination works

Cogwheel needs a first activation from an eligible marked triggerable item. It then triggers the other marked recipients, once each within that chain; a circular connection does not remove that limit.

  • Cogwheel
  • Triggers
  • Marked items
  • Co-op events
Chain starter
An eligible marked triggerable item must activate first; Cogwheel does not create that first event.
Recipient requirement
The item must be both marked and triggerable; passive items cannot join merely by occupying the selector.
Chain limit
Each recipient activates at most once in a single chain.
Later events
A later timer or movement trigger may begin a new chain.
Co-op attribution
1.0 counts events from the matching character even when selectors cross backpacks.

Priorities

  1. Identify what activates the first recipient before adding Cogwheel to the bag.
  2. Mark each intended recipient and confirm that it accepts triggers.
  3. If only one item fails, inspect that item's marks and eligibility before rebuilding the full chain.
  4. Do not count a repeated step inside one chain as another free activation.

Useful equipment and guides

Cogwheel triggers the other marked triggerable items when one of them activates. Each item fires once per chain.

Put every intended recipient inside Cogwheel’s marked cells. Passive items will not respond, even when marked. One of the triggerable items must activate first; Cogwheel does not supply that first trigger.

A later timer or movement trigger can start another chain. The once-per-chain limit prevents a circular arrangement from firing the same item repeatedly inside one chain.

Troubleshooting

If the chain never starts, check what activates the first item. If only one recipient fails, check that item’s marked position and trigger eligibility.

Co-op selectors can cross bags, but the trigger must still come from the correct character’s event. Version 1.0 fixes events being counted for the wrong character.
