Sheriff

Bring the bus back achievement artwork, associated with the Sheriff unlock

Character overview

Sheriff suits a gun build that already has a workable reload cycle. The badge rewards reloads, but the bonus does not remove the time enemies have to reach you between magazines.

  • Ranged support
  • Reloads
  • Bonus shots
Signature item
Sheriff badge/star, which affects marked ranged weapons and rewards reloads.
Unlock
Win a run.
Ammunition
Badge bonus shots do not consume ammunition.

Strengths

  • The signature effect supports a clear gun-and-reload build direction.
  • Badge bonus shots do not consume ammunition.
  • Sawed-off Shotgun and Yo-Yo provide a reload-focused build route.

Weaknesses

  • Reload downtime can still leave the character exposed.
  • Short-range shotguns require room to disengage between attacks.
  • A high-rarity gun can perform poorly if the replacement loses existing reload support.

Choose this character when

Choose Sheriff when you want to organize a run around ranged reload effects and can maintain the required support connections.

Choose another character when

Avoid forcing a shotgun or Minigun transition when the current gun is safer and the reload pieces are missing.

Priorities

  1. Keep the badge marking the intended ranged weapon.
  2. Arrange reload support before switching to a slower-reloading gun.
  3. Preserve movement and a fallback while assembling the shotgun setup.

Builds and equipment

Win a run to unlock Sheriff. His badge affects marked ranged weapons and rewards reloads. Version 1.0 fixes its bonus shots consuming ammunition.

A fast gun can empty a magazine quickly and still leave you exposed. Compare what happens during reload as well as while firing. Keep the badge and reload support connected to the chosen gun after rearranging.

One Steam player recommends Sawed-off Shotgun with Yo-Yo. Others prefer handguns and warn that an early Minigun can create a lethal reload gap. The differences in support and range matter more than treating either report as a universal winner.

Keep the current gun until the replacement can use its support. With a short-range Shotgun, preserve room to disengage during reload. More damage is little help when enemies reach you before the next magazine.

The shotgun build uses the badge with reload support. The supported Minigun build covers the preparation for a longer firing cycle. Keep a Pistol available during either transition if it is still your working attack.
