The Carver

The First Cut unlock achievement artwork: carved pumpkin

Character overview

The Carver uses pumpkin turrets that can be triggered by Walking Shoes. Keep a direct weapon for the opening and for fights that move beyond the turrets’ firing area.

  • Pumpkin turrets
  • Walking Shoes
  • Food restriction
Starting equipment
Knife and The Carver’s Grin.
Unlock setup
Find Fresh Pumpkin at the Meadows pumpkin event, place it beside Knife, and carry the arrangement through a clear.
Storage warning
A stashed pumpkin can spoil; preserve the equipped unlock pair.
1.0 restriction
Fresh Pumpkin and The Carver’s Grin count as Food and can be deactivated by Secret Sauce marks.

Strengths

  • Walking Shoes can trigger existing turret attacks while the character moves.
  • Existing turrets can supply an attack area while the character moves.
  • The initial Knife provides a direct attack while turret coverage develops.

Weaknesses

  • A stationary turret area may not cover the next fuel or loot destination.
  • Secret Sauce can deactivate the character item or the pumpkin needed for unlocking.
  • A movement-trigger effect does not automatically mean it spawns an additional turret.

Choose this character when

Choose The Carver when you want to work around a prepared turret area and use movement to trigger existing attacks.

Choose another character when

Avoid abandoning the direct weapon before the turrets cover the fights you actually need to take.

Priorities

  1. Keep direct weapon damage during the opening.
  2. Connect Walking Shoes to the intended turret recipient.
  3. Keep the Food items outside Secret Sauce’s selector.

Builds and equipment

Find Fresh Pumpkin at the Meadows pumpkin event, place it beside Knife, and keep that arrangement equipped through a clear.

Preserve the pumpkin-and-Knife relationship after rearranging. A stashed pumpkin can spoil, so keep the pair equipped. A stronger weapon may help with the clear, but it does not replace the Knife requirement.

The Carver starts with Knife and The Carver’s Grin. The Grin supplies pumpkin turret support; keep immediate weapon damage while the turret area develops. A stationary firing area may be useful behind you while the route sends you toward fuel or loot elsewhere.

For a movement-trigger route, see the Walking Shoes build linked below. Modifier eligibility belongs to the turret recipient, not automatically to a backup weapon.

Version 1.0 counts both Fresh Pumpkin and The Carver’s Grin as Food. Secret Sauce can deactivate either when marked.

For the Costume Shop prerequisite, keep another character’s signature item alongside the carved pumpkin item. Bananaperson’s Special Banana is one option. A Survivor run can unlock The Carver without satisfying the separate two-character-item requirement.

Use backpack positioning to check support marks after extending the bag. The Food and Secret Sauce guide covers the restriction shared with Bananaperson.
